Construction Notice

Dear Aurora Water Neighbor:

Beginning March 27, Aurora Water will begin improvements to a storm water street grate at the intersection of East Arkansas Avenue and South Oakland Street, nearest Village East Elementary School. The street grate and the concrete channel below it have deteriorated so they will be removed and replaced with a curb storm water inlet.

Similar work will also occur at East Arkansas Avenue at South Oakland Street, northeast of the school, and the intersection of East Arkansas Avenue at South Moline Street.

Typical construction hours for both Oakland Street sites will be 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Construction on East Arkansas Avenue and South Moline Street will be between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. In rare circumstances, these hours may be extended in order to complete particular tasks. Intermittent work may also occur on Saturdays. The project should take approximately two months to complete.

During construction, commuters may access South Oakland streets from East Florida Avenue or East Louisiana Avenue. South Moline Street will not be closed during construction. However, traffic will merge to form one lane during work at this location. There will be no impacts to water services.

We realize this project is being done in close proximity to homes and Village East Elementary School, so we will do our best to expedite the work, ensure safety and minimize the impacts of construction as much as possible.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while we complete this important project. Staff are available to answer questions or provide assistance throughout the construction period.
